Orthodontic Headgear San Jose See Dr. Trinh
Why is Orthodontic Headgear Used?
Orthodontic headgear is used to help treat severe bite abnormalities. Headgear is fitted to dental braces. Attached to the braces, the headgear serves as a support system for the head. It is designed to prevent or treat overbite by halting the growth of the upper jaw and moving posterior teeth distally. The type that is attached to the forehead corrects or prevents an underbite by mediating the upper teeth. There are two different headgears, one to correct overbite (cervical headgear) and one to treat underbites (reverse headgear).
