Strip Crowns

Pediatric Dentistry: Strip Crowns

Strip crowns, also known as 'white crowns', is an alternative to placing metal crowns on primary incisors (top baby teeth) with large caries. Strip crowns are made of a transparent plastic-like shell filled with tooth-colored composite and placed over the damaged tooth. After the composite has cured, the plastic layer will be removed, revealing a tooth-like structure that will serve as the crown. With proper case selection, these 'fillings' may last for at least two to three years. Stainless steel crowns with 'white' facings (the front part is white) are also available, in the event that strip crowns are not an option. Dr. Trinh will be happy to discuss all options available for aesthetic restorations on primary teeth.
